Faux Layers Card

Faux Layers Birthday Card
For a bit of a change, I wanted to create card that looked like it had layers & appeared 3D but wanted to accomplish this with nothing but ink and a white card base. This showcases what can be done with limited resources. If you have limited tools for card making, take heart. You can create a great card with next to nothing. The only supplies needed to make a card like this are ink, white card stock, a small sponge, scrap copy paper, sticky notes (used to frame the tag shape for sponging) and rubber stamps. Happy stamping!

Sympathy card

Deepest Sympathy
Hello everyone, This card is for a friend of mine who recently lost her husband. I used Midnight Muse and Pink Pirouette paper from Stampin' Up. The greeting is from the "Spring Mix" Stamp TV stamp set. The flower image is also from Stamp TV and is from the "Dogwood & Butterfly" set. I coloured the image with Copic markers. Winter card

Let it snow!
Here's a quick and simple winter/Christmas card to make. The stamp set is from Stampin' Up. I used Copic markers to colour it but pencil crayon would work just as well. I used liquid pearls for the center of the snowflake.

Thank you card

Thank you Berry Much

Red, white and green card challenge. Stamps are from Gina K designs on Stamp TV. A very easy card to make and I love how the red stickles made the berries pop!

Matching Wedding announcement & favour

Love Begins in a Moment

Hello everyone,
Thanks for stopping by to check out more of my creations. This time I'm posting the new wedding announcements and favours that I've made for our son's wedding this coming Saturday. Rather than have a big stressful wedding my son and his fiance' opted for a small wedding in our home followed by a family Bar-B-Que. Although it's a small and quiet wedding, they still wanted to share the good news with everyone so they asked me to make announcement cards for them. These will be sent out after the wedding just to let extended family and friends know they've tied the knot. Of course even a small wedding needs favours so I created these for the Bar-B-Que. I absolutely love creating matching wedding invitations and favours.

"You've got mail" Christmas card

You've Got Mail

Up for a challenge? How about adding layers to your card. If you count the snowflakes as layers, I have a total of 13 in this card. This was another card I created for a card challenge on Stamp TV. It was so much fun. The challenge for me was to keep it from looking too busy with so many layers. The bird and bird house stamp is from Stamp TV. I absolutely love challenges because they force me to think outside the box. In this case the layered approach prompted me to think about double stamping the envelope so I could add dimension to the mail by popping it out and thereby create another layer. I did the same thing for the bird's wing as you can see in the close up. It's like paper piecing only I add dimensionals (from Stampin' Up) to make the layer pop. Hope you enjoyed stopping by. :)

Air brushed card

Sing your heart out

Hello friends, Here's another card I made for a Stamp TV card challenge. Once again the challenge was to case a design team member. The idea is to copy certain elements of the card but still switch it up to create your own card. Vicki"s (the DT member) card was a Halloween card. Her card had an air brushed triangle with a black silhouette image and greeting plus a ribbon. This is what I came up with.

Seasonal gift tags

Seasonal gift tags

Hello everyone. I've entered another card challenge on Stamp TV. This time the challenge was to create two seasonal gift tags. Here is what I've come up with. I started by using two different label stamps from Gina K Designs available from Stamp TV. The polka dot one is from the "Smile" stamp set. The other is from the "Lovely Labels 2" stamp set. For the larger gift tag, I also stamped a mistletoe image from the "Christmas Blessings" set from Stampin' UP and the To: and From: are from the "Noel Christmas Ornament" set from Just Rite stamps. Of course no card is complete without a little bling, so I sparkled these up with a bit of stickles.

Birthday Wishes card

A Few Of My Favorite Things Stamp TV card challenge STV12FRI33

This card challenge really was a challenge as it called for incorporating 5 different elements. It had to include the following: Gina k stamps, die cutting, embossing, free pretty paper from Stamp TV and lastly hand cut items. The great thing about entering the card challenges at Stamp TV is the opportunity to win free Gina K stamps. If you want to see what it's all about, check it out here

Thank you card

From The Heart

This is a card I made about a year and a half ago. The bird and branch were punched out using a punch from Stampin' Up. A simple card to make and easy to reproduce when you need a bunch in a hurry.

Heartfelt Sympathy card

Bird on branch card

Bow & Bling challenge STVLIVECHAT12

Hello friends,
Another Stamp TV card challenge entry. This time the challenge called for bows and bling. I thought this cute bird image from Stamp TV, made a perfect red cardinal. My husband and I  had a playful debate over what kind of bird it was. He was convinced that it was suppose to be a blue jay but he had to concede after I finished coloring it and then showed him a photo of a cardinal. :) I used Copic markers to color it. Bird Y17, R81, R85, R59, E25 Frame around bird and leaves YG93, BG96. I used Candy cane stickles for the berries. The frame around the bird image was created using an oval nestabilty. I chose the size I wanted then traced both on the inside and the outside of the die, then colored in between the two lines to create the green border. By the way, this technique can be used to frame just about any image. Next I cut out the framed image with a larger oval and then matted it on another oval in red card stock. The embossed snowflakes was done with a Cuttlebug folder called snowflakes. I used black and yellow liquid pearls for the eye and beak and finished the card off with a green bow and red dew drop.

Air brushed card

It's All About Trees  STV12MON44

I created this  for a card challenge on Stamp TV.  The challenge was to create a card that had a tree on it. Being as I didn't have a tree stamp from Gina K, I decided to create my own using my air brush gun and Copic markers. I used a brass stencil that I had and sprayed my image. The greeting is from Stamp TV and can be found here. I really had to think outside the box for this one but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Pretty in pink card

Pretty in pink

Hello friends! This card was made for a card challenge on Stamp TV. The challenge was to CASE a design team member's card. I copied a card designed by Lee but the rules stated that I had to make at least two changes to the original card. This is what I came up with. I used a Cuttlebug folder called "birds and swirls for the embossing. the stamped image is from Stampin' Up ans is from the set called "Bordering on romance" I colored the flowers with Copic markers.

Scalloped wedding invitation and favour

Delightful scallops!

I made these for my oldest son's wedding. My husband thought I was absolutely crazy for gluing all those tiny pearls on, lol. I told him the invitations just wouldn't look the same without them. I call them a labor of love. :)

Wedding invitation & favour

Perfect pair
After making several wedding invitation samples, here is the one my son and his fiance' settle on. I then created this wedding favor to match. The bride and groom to be were thrilled.

Bubbly baby card

Hello Baby!

I'm a huge fan of Whipper Snapper Design stamps and this image is one of my absolute favorites! This cute little bubbly baby stamp is called "Squeaky Clean". You can find it Here. I colored the image with Copic markers, then framed the image with a combination die cutting/embossing folder called " Perfect Perennials from Cuttlebug. I used Crystal Effects on the bubbles to give them a wet, shiny look.

Foil paper on Christmas Card

Framed Ornament

Merry Christmas to you! I know it's only November but it hard not to get into the Christmas spirit when uploading Christmas cards.
This pretty ornament image is from the "Delightful Decorations" stamp set from Stampin' Up. Available in the 2012/13 Catalog and found Here. The embossing was done with the " Northern Flurry" folder also available from SU. I used foil wrapping paper to create the sparkly border. I like to stock up on foil paper after Christmas when I can get it for a good price. I recommend gluing the foil onto card stock to stiffen it before using. By itself I find it too flimsy to work with. I love the "bling" effect it gives to my cards.

Handmade Wedding invitation

We're getting married!

In preparation for my youngest son's upcoming wedding, I made several invitation samples for him and his fiance' to choose from. They chose the colors (navy blue and orange) and it was up to me to come up with a design. This invitation opens in the middle as you can see. In this sample, I have white paper inside but had they chosen this design, I would have printed the wedding details on velum instead of white paper. I used a circle punch and made three tabs that keep the invitation closed, sort of like tucking the flaps of a cardboard box when closing. Although they didn't choose this particular invitation, I can see myself using this design for other occasions.

Tweet birthday card

A simple Birthday card for days when I need a card but don't have a lot of time.

"Two steps back" card

Two steps back

One of my favorite websites to shop and browse is Stamp TV. I love participating in their card challenges and this card is one I made for their "two steps back" challenge. I used Gina K stamps exclusively on this card and you can find them all Here.

Hydrangea card

Pretty Hydrangea

Hydrangea flowers are so pretty. I just had to try making these beautiful flowers when I saw a tutorial online. Unfortunately I no longer remember what site I saw it on, so I can't share it with you here. I can tell you that they were created by using a heart shaped punch. I absolutely love the flower pot stamp from Gina K Designs which can be found Here . I colored it with Copics. This is one card that I may do a tutorial on in the future.

Snow Burst

I saw a card similar to this on Pinterest and decided to create my own version. I love how it turned out. I will definitely be making several of these to send out at Christmas.

Air brushed card

Here's a card I made for my dear husband. He bought me an air compressor this past Christmas so I could airbrush with my Copic markers. What a blast! (pun intended, lol) Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. I have a bit of a warped sense of humor. :) So many amazing things to do with airbrushing.

Sweet Chickidees

Aren't these the cutest little birds! The stamp is suppose to be bluebirds but seeing as I love chickadees, I used my Copic markers and colored them to look like chickadees. Just looking at them makes me smile!

Wedding dove

I love this stamp set from Stampin' Up. It's a Christmas set but can be used for so many different occasions.

Reverse spotligt

I had so much fun making this card. I entered it in a card challenge on Stamp TV. The challenge was to create a reverse spotlight. This stamp set from Stampin' Up immediately came to mind. I thought it was perfect for this challenge.

Birthday Girl

Here is one of my favorite stamps from Whippersnappers. I just love this image as it reminds me of my sweet granddaughters. I currently have five and another one is on the way. I used Copic markers to color her.

Bucket of snowmen

Here is a fun Christmas card for you all! I LOVE snowmen! Any time I see a cute snowman stamp or in this case, an embossing plate, I can't help myself, I just have to buy it. When it comes to snowmen, resistance is futile. I simply can't resist their cuteness.

Coloring with Copic markers

Christmas wreath

Hello friends,
It's that time of year again.Christmas is just around the corner so I'm busy designing cards to send out and this is one of the first of many. Although not visible, there are little gold pearls in the centers of the flowers. Both the wreath and the border are embossed in gold.
